Frank Chimero
is a guy who's work I have been following for quite awhile now, and he never disappoints.

Check out his "The States" Series. His simple clean style is often replicated, but never duplicated. Follow him on twitter here, and check out some more visual goodness for your eye hole on his Flickr, here.

Noma Bar is a man of few strokes. But don’t let the simplicity fool you. His talent lies in his efficiency in depicting characters and social issues. With bold colors, shapes and one or two icons he captures the spirit of a person. Other times he communicates a message on a social issue with amazing clarity while adding a bit of humor to everything. Whether the message is about violence or equality, his straight-forward visual approach is refreshing.

Some really amazing images as well. The dude gets it done!

Interesting thoughts on Logo's and Branding via Drawer

YOUR LOGO IS NOT YOUR BRAND

A brand isn’t a logo. A logo is merely a symbol that represents the brand. Your corporate identity, the stuff found on letterheads and signage, isn’t a brand either. A brand isn’t the product or service that you make. So if a brand isn’t all of these things what is a brand?

A brand is how an individual feels about a company. It’s an individual’s feeling because a brand is defined by how an individual feels about the brand, not what the company wants an individual to feel. Sure companies can’t control how an individual feels, but they certainly can influence the feelings of an individual by properly communicating the qualities that make their brand special.

Have you ever had a client come up to you looking for design work, hoping that you could design them a strong brand? Maybe you thought you could, but you were wrong. Brands can’t be designed.

I am a Font nerd! I love everything that has to do with fonts.
That's just one reason why I love this!

FONTCAPTURE

Make a font out of your own handwriting! Super easy to do. And it is wild seeing your own handwriting in a font.

Worth the 5 minutes it takes to get it all said and done!

Thanks to @inspiredmag for tweeting it! :)

After fifty years of Futura, IKEA will be changing its catalog typeface to Verdana.

Via idsgn:
The font will replace IKEA Sans (a customized version of Futura by Robin Nicholas), and IKEA Serif (based on Century Schoolbook). In an interview with the Swedish design magazine Cap & Design, IKEA’s Ivana Hrdlickova says the main reason for the switch was to allow the company to use the same typeface in all countries (current IKEA typefaces do not contain Asian characters, for example). Being that Verdana was designed for the web, it also allows the company’s image to remain consistent online and in print.

Of all the choices, Verdana!? Really!?

I'm a baseball fan, been my whole life. I love the heritage of the game, the classic tales and classic stadiums.

I am also a huge of the classic imagery of the game. Logos, uniforms, hats, all of that!

So, no surprise that I am loving this font!

Fenway Park

So many fun uses, not just the old baseball stuff, but others as well.

Super busy today everybody, but I wanted to post this great resource for some really good tutorials.

One thing about me, I have a love affair with illustrator, its such a perfect program, nothing against the other bunch of CS4 programs, (which I love as well!) but for me, I am loving illustrator.

Smashing Magazine, put together this list of some nice 3-D Adobe Illustrator tutorials.

Go on, get to learning!

Veer explains, " Next time you have to explain kerning to a layman, you’ll have a live demo just a zip away."

If you don't know, tsk, tsk.

I haven't done a spotlight on people for a little while.

But, I wanted to spotlight this guy.

jeffstaple

Creative Director of Staple Design. Reed Space, and everything cool.

Everything this guy touches, turns to gold.

I could go through and spotlight his endeavors, but it would be easier for you to just go and check it out for yourself.

If you are familiar with sneakers, then you already know who he is.

I would say, if you are looking to have a career in design, follow this guys career.

At very least, follow his blog.

Being a huge fan of Conan O’Brien, I am very excited for the big switch!

On June 1st The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien goes live on NBC. And he has a great new logo to show for it!
Conan says this about his new logo,“I wanted a logo that acknowledged the long, rich tradition of The Tonight Show while still looking good on hats, T-shirts, mugs, lawn furniture, notebooks, stemware, urns, defibrillators, water bottles, cell phones, sports equipment, pens, vacuums, chimes and our new line of unisex cologne.”

I for one cant wait until he comes back, its been kinda boring during late night recently. Sorry Jimmy.
