This could be a huge financial blunder on the parts of the responsible party.

They are still some of the most comfortable shoes out there!

And, I just bought a pair, of the red ones, and they get looks!

Not just because they are red, no. because they are sick.

Vans is still on their game, and still a huge name when it comes to shoe / Skate culture.

I am a huge fan of the retro style shoes, these are pretty much the definition of retro style shoe.

Inspired by the potential of design to "incite playful curiosity" Pete Oyler has created the Stretch shelves: giant, colorful rubber bands that can be stretched around aluminum pegs into any shape you want.

I have to say, as someone that spent the weekend putting up shelves, I love this idea.

Layer Tennis

Its explained on the website like this:

We’re hosting a series of live design events called Layer Tennis. The season wouldn’t have happened without the support of Adobe® Creative Suite® 4, the weapon of choice for Layer Tennis players and creative professionals everywhere.

We'll be playing matches using video, animation, sound, photos, type and lots more, but the basic idea is the same no matter what tools are in use. Two competitors will swap a file back and forth in real-time, adding to and embellishing the work. Each artist gets fifteen minutes to complete a “volley” and then we post it to the site live. A third participant, a writer, provides play-by-play commentary on the action, as it happens. A match lasts for ten volleys and when it's complete, Season Ticket Holders tell us what they think and we'll declare a winner

One thing about me, I have a love affair with illustrator, its such a perfect program, nothing against the other bunch of CS4 programs, (which I love as well!) but for me, I am loving illustrator.

With all the talk of furniture design lately, I wanted to show one of my favorite pieces of all time.

The EAMES chair. Simple, clean, classic, comfortable.

I love almost all mid century modern furniture, but to me the kings of that style will always be Charles and Ray Eames

OH! SNAP! This weeks S.O.T.W, is another classic!

This brightly colored gem got re-released, the Nike Air Tech Challenge II.
I had these for a bit when I was younger, and wore them somewhat, but they never got the "cred" they deserved where I was from.

Now with the re-release, and a few changes from the original, (which they do to all re-makes) I plan of giving them there do.

Before it was standard in tennis to were loud colored clothes, and be a "Rebel" there was Agassi. And these here, were his kicks.

So I feel kinda bad for dissing the Wendy's commercial. Not really, I mean that is a really bad commercial, but Wendy's has been known to do better spots for years, and I just think they had a bad one there.

Either way. I have learned that if you say something mean about someone, or something, its best to say 2 nice things.

So here are 2 examples of really great spots.

I know I have been slacking on my posting lately, I promise to be more on it when things calm down.

ANYWAY!

I am in California right now for work and play, and I got to thinking
about the state of design in CA.
California has always been huge in creating new ways to be environmentally sound, and with the economy being the way it is, its time to make a difference in the way architects think about housing in CA.

Modern residential design is one of my passions, and thinking of the environment is so key in the next steps of our world. This is a great look at the way we, as designers should be thinking.

SO if you read this blog on any type of regular basis, you will see a trend as far as the people I spotlight. All of them are influential in their fields and have gotten there doing it the way they wanted to.

And this guy is no different.
MIKE GIANT, is so amazing at what he does
and he does it all.

From Tattooing, to T-shirt design, to graffiti, to fine art gallery pieces, the guy has a bag of tricks so huge, its silly.
